Place Ski Resort is one of the most accessible ski resorts
in the Southeast. Winterplace is located just off I-77 in Southern
West Virginia. It provides 27 downhill ski trails, a 10-lane snow
tubing park, restaurants and clubs. Winterplace is just 12 miles from
Eads Mill Lodge Camp Creek State Park and Forest is located just 6
miles away. Camp Creek State Park is a recreation area formed in 1987
on approximately 550 acres of Camp Creek State Forest. Camp Creek
Forest consists of 5300 mountainous acres, demonstrating sound forest
management principles through the concept of multiple use. Hunters
and Fishermen benefit from the variety of wild game, including whitetail
deer, native wild turkey, ruffed grouse and a seasonally stocked trout
and a seasonally stocked trout stream running through the park.
Brush
Creek Preserve is a secluded area just down the road from
Eads Mill Lodge that parallels Brush Creek and the Bluestone River.
It is a great place to see beautiful Spring Windflowers, migrating
warblers, and dramatic limestone and sandstone cliffs. Adjacent
to the preserve lies Brush Creek Falls, the largest falls in Southern
West Virginia.
Theatre
West Virginia is located within 30 miles in Grandview State
Park. Grandview Amphitheatre, located amid beautiful Southern West
Virginia parkland, is a great place for spectacular entertainment
under the stars. For more than 40 years, Theatre West Virginia has
performed two of the world’s most captivating outdoor drama
productions, including the world renowned “Hatfield and McCoys.”
